1. Who we are

Balance is an iOS application designed to help couples measure, visualise, and discuss the distribution of household mental load. The app is operated as an independent product. For questions, contact us at hello@balancementalload.com .

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Balance. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement. We do not knowingly provide the app to anyone under 18.

3. Your account

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
• You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
• You may not share your account with or transfer it to another person.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. Free and Premium features

Balance offers a free tier and a Premium subscription. Free users can complete the assessment and view their own load distribution. Premium unlocks partner comparison, weekly check-ins, the To Do feature with calendar integration, and AI-powered insights.

Premium subscriptions are billed through Apple's App Store on a monthly or annual basis. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID settings.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Balance for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the app.
• Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from Balance.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service or its infrastructure.
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity.

6. AI-powered features

Premium users have access to AI-powered analysis of their load distribution and weekly check-in. These insights are generated automatically and are intended as a supportive tool, not professional advice. They do not constitute relationship counselling, medical advice, or any other professional service. Results may vary based on the data you provide.

7. Intellectual property

All content, design, trademarks, and code within Balance are our property or licensed to us. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of Balance without prior written permission.

8. Disclaimers

Balance is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for any particular purpose. Use of Balance is at your own risk.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Balance — including loss of data, relationship outcomes, or decisions made based on the app's output.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if you breach these terms. You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Upon deletion, your data is permanently removed within 30 days.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent version. Continued use of Balance after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
